Home Visits

Home visits are reserved for the following groups of patients:

• Terminally ill
• Housebound
• Patients who are severely ill and cannot be mobilised

Home visits are at the discretion of the clinician. The clinician will triage the patient over the telephone. All visit requests must made by 11:00am.

We want to see patients as fast as possible. It is better that we see you in the practice. This is because we have access to the correct facilities for examining and treating patients. We also have access to your health records.

Home visits are a poor use of GP time. In the time it takes to complete one home visit, three patients could have been seen in the practice. Lack of transport, child care issues and bad weather are not reasons for a home visit.
